Institute professional qualifications

Our Professional Awards offer a flexible, practical way of developing a set of transferable skills that are assessed against a national set of standards.

Why study for an Institute Professional Award?

For employees:

  • they're based on reflecting about practical, day–to–day actions and behaviours

We offer four awards:

Communications

As well as focusing on the service you provide to customers, undertaking this award encourages you to have an awareness and appreciation of your colleagues, and the impact your role has on the company. I felt a real sense of achievement afterwards, and it helped boost my confidence in my own abilities.

The Communications award gets you to focus on the key behaviourial skills needed to build relationships with customers and colleagues, as well as on the wider purpose of your job role and how it fits in with the needs of the organisation.

Solutions

This award will focuses on the skills you need to solve customers’ problems. To achieve the Solutions Award, you'll need to demonstrate that you inspire confidence, are proactive and respond quickly to service trends and customer feedback. You'll also need to show that you’re a team player who gives practical support to others to help them improve their performance.

Innovations

The Innovations Award requirements go a step further than the previous two awards. You'll need to demonstrate that you understand the importance of customer loyalty and retention to the future success of your organisation. You’ll need to show that you’re proactive, flexible and creative, and are always on the lookout for new ways of improving customer service. We’ll ask you for examples of how you’ve identified new ways of doing things and recommended improvements. On top of this, you’ll need to be able to show how you motivate and influence others.

Our Coach Award recognises the valuable and skilled work that Professional Awards coaches perform.
