Waitrose is set to launch a wave of new products in the coming months, as it prepares for its deal with popular online retailer Ocado to come to an end on 31 August.
According to The Guardian, the supermarket has revealed that it is working on 5,000 new or revamped ‘own-label’ products, with the wave of new offerings being masterminded courtesy of a multi-million-pound investment in its Berkshire headquarters.
Customers will soon be able to shop for items including ginger beer spatchcock chicken and pork, harissa and sweet potato Scotch eggs.
Waitrose has also unveiled a new advertising campaign named ‘You can taste when it’s Waitrose’, which aims to promote the qualities of its foodie offering.
The supermarket’s product revamp comes in the lead up to Ocado’s switch to partner up with M&S, with the online retailer set to stock some 6,000 M&S products, in contrast to the 4,000 it currently sells via its deal with Waitrose.
Either way, it’s set to be a win-win situation for both M&S and Waitrose customers, with product ranges at both supermarkets set to expand.
