As the professional body for customer service, we are committed to improving customer service across the nation. Our customer service focused training courses, available only to members, help your organisation develop the skills, knowledge and expertise to deliver service excellence.

Being approved is a member exclusive benefit and means your organisation and approved trainers will be confident in delivering our training courses to our high levels of quality and standard.

Become a trainer

Step 1

Complete your application form. This will trigger an email to your trainer(s) with their application form

Step 2

Your trainers will complete the separate application form

Step 3

Your applications will be reviewed and we will get back to you with a decision (within 15 working days)

Step 4

If successful, you will receive your training pack within 5 working days of being approved

What to expect once you’re approved?

Here’s what to expect next upon becoming an approved in-house trainer with the Institute of Customer Service:

As an approved trainer, you are now authorised to deliver our certificate courses directly to your employees. For each delegate participating in the course, there is a registration fee of £75 which covers the following:

  • A certificate of achievement: upon successful completion of the course, each delegate will receive a certificate of achievement from The Institute of Customer Service, recognising their accomplishment and commitment to excellence in customer service.
  • One-year complimentary individual foundation membership: in addition to the certificate, each delegate is awarded a one-year free Individual Foundation Membership with The Institute. This membership provides access to additional resources, networking opportunities, and ongoing professional development to further enhance their customer service expertise.

Frequently asked questions

You will be approved to deliver high quality, engaging customer focused training to equip your organisation with the fundamental skills and knowledge to deliver excellent customer service.

All our courses are regularly quality assured and our robust evaluation process ensures we continue to be relevant, current and expert in what our training provides.

You can apply to become an approved in-house trainer if:

  • Your organisation is a member of The Institute of Customer Service
  • You are looking for a cost-effective option for training larger number of employees
  • You are or have an experienced trainer or trainers who meet our requirements

£1,500+VAT for up to two trainers to become approved to deliver any of our four certificate courses in-house. Additional trainers can be included on the same application for a £250+VAT fee per additional trainer.

Approval covers the following:

  • All associated review of application submissions, any required further discussion, checking eligibility and processing the approval
  • Access to materials to support your delivery as a trainer and delegates with completing the course – a trainer pack, a set of powerpoint slides to support the facilitator, a set of workbooks for the trainer and access to e-certificates for your delegates
  • An initial Quality Assurance (QA) observation within one of the first three deliveries or within three months of approval, whichever is the earliest, following approval
  • An annual QA and observation* (*annual QA fees apply)
  • Your delegates are also given complementary Individual Membership for one year on successful completion of a course

All approvals will be subject to an annual Quality Assurance (QA) review. The cost for annual QA and retaining approval is £500+VAT for your approved trainers.

Annual QA will take place 12 months from the first delivery and subject to meeting the requirements of the Trainer Code of Practice.
