The Institute welcomes the standalone offence for assault of a retail worker in the upcoming Crime & Policing Bill, and calls for the protection to be extended to all public-facing workers – providing vital protections for all customer service professionals, such as those in call centres, transport, financial services, infrastructure, hospitality, and public servants.
